A Week of You

One moment is stuck ‘tween my mind and my heart.

Through the plains of the days that would keep us apart,

It wandered with motions unbounded by sight,

For no truth had it found after leaving your light.

Hot frost on your lips in a break from the freeze.

That memory stands still unflung by the breeze

Of a thousand old winters and ancientry’s rime.

That kiss I’ll recall through the vastness of time.

It could be the hour that’s loosing these thoughts

Or the leftover lees of a legion of shots.

But I’ve drunk not a drop, and still shall I warn

That what’s said after midnight maintains in the morn.

So listen with all that you’re willing to give,

For these lines I recite are the lyrics I live.

This chance of enchantment impels me to pray

For an omen from you that could tell me to stay.

Daughter of Pearl

You’re a pearl that’s aflame, and the moment you came

Sent the whole of my soul in a whirl.

At the edge of the sea in a garden of glee

That’s untouched by the turbulent swirl

Of the waves’ ancient haze, you capture my gaze

And draw me anon to your side.

Unbound by the ground on a throne of the sound

Of wisdom not burdened by pride,

You reside in a state of favourable fate

And enchant your exalted demesne.

Bring me in from the cold and into the hold

Of the blessed embrace of your reign.

Your presence pervades the expanse of the glades

That surround your palatial abode.

Every point on your isle you anoint with your smile.

You’re the reason I restlessly rode

Through the nights and their skies in the search for the eyes

That might deem in my dreams to meet mine.

Having had just a taste of the glory that graced

My mind in oneiric design,

I ask for the boon if it won’t seem too soon

Of a word that would say that I’m right

For unleashing my heart like a storm from the start

Of a love of indelible light.

Recovery

I wasn't the one to recover your heart.

I let down my guard too fast from the start.

I took what you said to a place in my head

Where nothing could break it apart.

You told me you'd tell me, but I couldn't wait

For a piece of a promise that's coming too late.

I've come to believe I'm not built to grieve

For feelings more fickle than fate.

I sought out to solace a slice of your soul,

But somehow I see I'm not set for that role.

I let in some light but never caught sight

Of glimmer or gleam of that goal.

But though I pull out of the pledge that I made

And abandon the plans and potential we laid,

I need you to know that some things don't go.

The future that finds you won't fade.

Depth of Descent

I fail to recall the time of my fall,

But the depth of descent is assured.

The grace of your gaze through a strawberry haze

Gave a shock as it left me allured.

Your entrance was hushed, but its subtlety crushed

Every hope that I had of escape.

My heart was laid bare by the braid of your hair

And the slender design of its shape.

Your crystalline gleam on the edge of my dream

Gives a shimmering sharpness to sleep.

By your voice's embrace, I'm awoken apace,

And I know that I've fallen too deep.

As the Crow Falls

The beat of corvine wings surrounds

A nightmare realm at languid pace.

No cease does seem to meet their sounds.

Their stale miasma stays in place.

They seem surreal, but in their berth

Another dream takes vibrant form

To rise against the worry's worth

And ride the world out through the storm.

At every step she skews my sight

From fright to cheer and lights my mind

Where fear's forgot beneath delight

While fate's fresh face is growing kind.

The wretched pall of shadows cast

By fetid flights across the sky

Shall soon enough fall to the past

And let love be reborn thereby.

Sorry Not to Say

If I said not enough, I feared saying too much.

I felt fated to love from before your first touch.

Did I think that my thoughts couldn’t be understood?

I’m a fool, for I feel now that only you could.

It can still seem surreal in your world between realms

Where the brightness you bless me with fair overwhelms.

It’s a journey I make for the sake of the sight

That does meet my approach with invincible light.

If I’d noticed a chill as I left your embrace,

It would be worth the while  to partake of your grace.

But you cultivate climes that may rival the heat

Which erupts from my heart at the speed of its beat.

If I failed in my folly to fully convey

The affection I focus on you and your way,

Let me pray for your patience and find in my style

The right moment to say what I see in your smile.

Adorement

You wear mystique like purest ink.

It coats your skin in fine designs

That play upon a precious brink

Where magics under madness twine.

With every freshly ended kiss,

My gaze is locked within your glow

Till I am blind in fulgent bliss.

Then to your salving lips I go.

The silver of your shadow shines

E’en through the dark that fast befalls.

Where mine own star with yours aligns,

There’s answer to my ancient calls.
