That Arachnid

Spider, take my dreams away.

String them up above my head.

Pose before my face and scream.

Sting my slumber with your dread.

Each eye’s a claw that scratches sight.

I taste your gaze upon my skin.

The rough designs of torment swell.

Your body bloats on fetid sin.

You spin my thoughts away from sleep.

You drag them far from sickly peace.

You hide them in your mind’s grotesque

Till threats of senseless freedom cease.

No breath escapes the walls you weave.

No hope relieves the captive husk.

Your silent spite proceeds in shade

And crawls upon the edge of dusk.

Othala

A supple love stood steady watch.

Its votive vigil never erred.

Though fate has ceased that patient gaze,

Its freely given wisdom's spared.

No pause is caused by grieving's grip.
No place is saved for cold despair.

The long repose can bring no close

To all this life has brought to bear.

Protean

You're flowing deep like swirling seas.

Your waves approach my waiting knees.

Beneath your beat I would submerse

And drown below your boundless verse.

Surround me in your turbid sound

And steal me from the barren ground

Of lands that feel not rain's release.

Erode this parched and hollow peace.

Wash away the dunes of doubt

And dowse this desolated drought.

Slip me through unsteady shoals

Into the tides of twining souls.

Slake this ancient thirst in full.

Slay me with your fatal pull.

These eyes shall know their final close

As breath is reft by liquid prose.

Dusty

May sky's own iron clad the coming year

'Gainst senseless doubt and needling fear.

Let ursine sinew lend its splendid force

To send you through your wending course

While every wish your wilful heart may sing

Makes haste to you on witchy wing.

As wintry night with sudden speed descends,

A shifting light therein resplends.

By its dance, a subtle limen breaks.

Beyond, a future fate awakes.

A Road Ode

Your lash is a span to distant domains.

Iridian bridges and ciliate lanes

Course through the cosmos and straight to your eye

Where revelrous realms of enchantment do lie.

Unbound by the hour of typical time,

I'll travel those highways of slender sublime.

The rays of your gaze bedazzle and daze.

They play upon paths in a shimmery haze.

Stricken by splendour and smote by your sight,

I'm blind in the brightness of luminous flight.

Your glare is the grace at the end of my chase,

And it shines in the infinite night.

Woe When You Know

It's woe when you know that you're tearing apart,

But the torment won't go if you take out your heart.

When you're callous and cruel, you're  no less of a fool.

Still pain's on the path of a glorious start.

Your veins are aflame with the wishes you waste.

Your silver tongue's sour from losing the taste

Of the rarest delight that vanished by  night.

No speed is enough to escape from your haste.

You're locked into loss and trapped by your trust

Till your tethers decay and your chains go to rust.

But they're forged in the fire of rampant desire,

And those bonds can't be broken by lust.

She Was a Teenage Tree Mage

Her roots reach around to unravel my soul.

Botanical bombast's imbuing her bole.

Her branches are grasping at shreds of the sky.

Her soil seems to teem with the sound of her sigh.

The seeds of her spirit are sown in my sight.

I'm deep in the weeds of her wilding delight.

The leaves of her love are alive with the verd

Of lingering laughter and whispery word.

She's bare in the bloom of a blissful embrace.

Her bosom's the blossom of estival grace.

Her grove is aglow in the growing romance.

Its glimmering glee is enchanting my glance.

Her forest's a force of felicitous fate.

Her face is a flower with power to sate.

Dryadic desire's afire in full.

I'm doomed in the draw of her delicate pull.

The blood of the rose is my chosen defeat.

It shows what it knows as it flows in the heat.

The secrets it sings bring the sting of the thorn.

By the pain that it pays, a new season is born.

Write Lightning

Let’s write our names in lightning

And mark our time in flame.

Remember every glory

Our story spreads to frame.

Upon my heart is graven

Each sound your lips did breathe.

My soul is never silent

Where all your songs do seethe.

The etchings of an evening

Shall last beyond the night.

In far and unseen aeons,

Their words are ever bright.

The message of the moment,

Immortalized in mind,

Can only grow more potent

In futures fit to find.

Psalm for a Solstice

Solstitial shakes and Samhain shivers

Ripple out on distant rivers.

Rumblings of the season's stride

Make quakes on Gaia's lumpen hide.

Seisms seize the torn terrain

And crack it with ecstatic strain.

Signs of winter's coming pall

Stir to quicken gloaming's fall.

The timbre of a growing breeze

Lowers fore the waiting freeze.

The sounds it carries slow and glower.

What once was frantic now is dour.

A muddled message they convey

In nervous dirge and hazy lay.

The tidal rise of that refrain

Reaches peak as summer's slain.

An Untried Triad

I fought off the words that rose to my lips

Whenever I felt your embrace.

It felt strange to contain, but it spared all the pain

That the phrase would have brought to your face.

It's a sentence all know, but I kept it below,

For such things aren't accepted in haste.

It's the truth I believe, but it's not one received

Without risk of creating a waste.

I disguised it in song where it wouldn't go wrong.

It belonged far away from your eyes.

But all that's in the rear, and now there's no fear

To be clear where it wouldn't be wise.

The feeling's too vast to forget when it's passed,

But it's not to be said when it's new.

As the last bell has tolled for the memory I hold,

I can finally say it to you.

Minding the Mines

Delving through this mantled land,

An adept deft with crafty hand

Seeks new fortune by the morn

In riches from earth's bosom torn.

Digging deep into the ground

For any worth that can be found,

His squatty shape displays no wear

As he pursues his single care.

His pointed ear does bear no bead

Of sweat as soil his fingers knead.

His lumpen limbs make moves with grace

That life's denied his wizened face.

His nose is sharp enough to aid

The pick he wields to ply his trade.

But time and toil could never fray

The winsome glint his eyes display.
